Hello, I am new to the hobby and want some help. Im setting up a small fish only tank with 3 fish total. 1)Rasp 2) Picasso Trigger 3) Clown trigger. I am having trouble finding small clown triggers that haven't been caught using sianyde...(spelling). Does anyone know where I could get one shipped to me or pick on up that hasn't been caught that way. Im located in New Hampshire.
Thanks,
Casey

Mehopes your tank is at least 55 gal, with plans to upgrade in a year or two when those triggers get too big for their britches.

thanks for the message. its 46 bow and the fish are 2 inches each. They will be the only fish in that tank till I can get a new 120G setup...right now im in an apartment and am looking into space to keep a 6ft tank.

thanks

I know the feeling. I wish I had space to set up a 120. I've actually got one in storage that I used to have set up in my old house, but no room here.

G'luck with yours! As far as clown triggers go, I've never tried to keep one, but I've heard that really small ones can be sensitive to water quality; much moreso than when they get older. Just what I heard though.

Thanks again for the reply, actullay I have heard clown triggers are very hard to kill. But I will take heed your advice and monitor water quality very carefully...i saw a nice deal on a 90 Gal, I could do a 20gal sump in it and get good volume, its will run 2k w/ evertying

Baby clown triggers (1-2") are tough to find as they are a seasonal item. You mostly see them come into shops during the summer months, but didn't see any come in last year. The demand for them is really high during christmas season ( to give as presents to aquarists) and, because the short supply, have seen shops charge upwards of $150. These little guys are pretty indestructable and will eat anything you put in the tank (including fingers). I will warn you that they grow really fast and will outgrow that 46 faster than you think. This becomes especially so because they are very agressive and territorial even as juveniles. My 1" clown trigger used to beat up on a neon dottyback that I kept with it in my 30G quarantine tank. Finally, these guys get HUGE as adults (a foot or more) and really NASTY so that even the 120G won't be big enough.
