Well I am getting rid of my 180 , but dont want to get out of the hobby so I was thinking of setting up a hexagon reef , lit by a single MH.

Does anyone have one that they would like to show off???

I would like to see some to give me some hope that it can be done

hi.
What make you feel otherwise, i.e., that it can't be done?

I have to agree with seven. It is not that it can't be done, I have just never seen it done.

I had a hex tank for a FO many, many years ago and it was just so hard to work with. It wasn't drilled, so I had a hang-on wet/dry. It was tall, so working in it to clean or aquascape was difficult. There was not a lot of surface area for gas exchange.

If you did get one and had it drilled, where would you put the sump? In another room?

I have no intension to sound negative, but I was there once and would never go back. If you can make it work, more power to you.

My $.02.

hi.
I have seen several. One of the best ones have a overflow in the center, and you can walk around the perimeter. There is a hexagon sump in the stand. The return is also in the center.

IMO, hexagon tank is neat, but the amount of work to get it to work is a lot more than in-wall tank.

One of the most beautiful reef tanks that I have seen was a hex at the lfs. (probably around 75 gal) The store is no longer in business but the tank was there for several years and beautifully aquascaped. There was a standard sump in the cabinet below the tank and the "back" three walls were blue plastic.
