Thanks. I forgot about NH being so close. I have heard Inland Reef and Little Shop of Pets were really good places. So they will be my first stop.

Yeah, it's too bad there's nothing great in downtown Boston. You'll have to do some travelling.
That other thread had some good stores mentioned. Check it out.
You can join the Boston Reefers at our meetings in the future. We're trying to get our Nov. meeting planned now.
Lemme know if you want to be on the email list.

Does anyone know of any good stores in or around the Boston area? I will be moving myself and my 90 gallon tank with me to the city of Boston and would like to find a good place to be able to keep my obsession alive. I like just going to the stores to look at their stuff. So any info would be appreciated. Opinions on places would be great. Thanks

Inland Reef Aquaria in Nashua, NH is top notch. There are some other stores in the area I've heard good things about, but memory fails me now. There was a thread recently about LFS in the Boston area, do a search you should be able to find it.

I was in Tropic Isle Aquarium in Framingham recently, and they seemed to have pretty decent livestock. The staff I delt with was not very helpful, though.

Butt.doc, Another Vermonter on the board!!!! No Way! Where are you located? I'm down near Middlebury in the cow town of Bridport.

You hit the nail on the head about Tropic Isle. A dive IMO, but they do have a good selection of fish.

I second Inland reef, very cool store and they carry frags from Greg Hiller. I was very dissappointed w/ Little Shop of Pets in portsmouth, They have a ton of stuff there but it was alot of the same thing, and a large presence of goniopora. I bought a green pocillopora colony there about a year ago and it has since turned pink, but Inland Reef is much more worth the drive!

BTW "They get there shipmenys on late thursdays so go iin on a friday or sat. " definitely wouldn't do that, especially to get fish, better to wait a few more days.

So is Inland Reef a better place to go to get corals than Little Shop of Pets?? I checked out Inland Reef's web site. I must say that is has to be one of the most well made sites if not the best on the net. They let you know exactly how many they have and tell you a little about what the conditions that are needed for it survival. Good job guys.

I have seen Little Shop of Pets had a problem with flatworms (plannaria). Don't know if they got that fixed yet. Also seemed to have a lot of bubble algae (vlaonia) on their coral's rocks. But their fish are good, and they're good to the customers.

In my opinion Tropic Isle stinks. IME They charge too much, and they aren't into customer service. I wouldn't shop there.

ok i just went to a place in Hudson NH this week they do'nt have a huge selection but what they do have has got to be the most healthy speciemens I have ever seen in a shop, they make custom tanks but do have some supplys and live stock
there address is:

Rockn Crab Aquatics
30 Lowell Road
Hudson, NH 03051

my next choice is
inland reef in Nashua
or
tropical Isle in i think its Framingham MA.

also PJ's on Rt.1 isnt bad

some people like sea world in salem (but if I was you I wouldnt waist my time.)
I've only bought fresh water fish from SW and have gotten healthier fish from pet co. so judge for your self. not to mention kind of pricey.

They are mostly a "set-up and maintenance" company for commercial installations. They don't really cater to the hobbyist.

I haven't checked recently, but they used to charge $19 to test your water, $4 each for blue leg hermits and $130 for Purple Tangs.

We don't consider them competition.

I went to Inland Reef a couple of weeks ago I was impressed. If there weren't price tags on the little information placards I would have thought I entered a small museum.

Has anyone ever dealt with Reefgar in Westboro,MA? I saw an add for them in FAMA but have never seen a post relating to them on this forum.
