I've just noticed that the glass on the tank is scratched? First off, thoughts went through my head that it was a crack. But after investigating the scratch, I found that the outside still feels completly smooth (my finger nail won't get caught in the scratch) but inside the tank my finger nail does get caught.

Should this be a major concern for me?

Is there any way for me to repair or reinforce that spot?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

hi.
Structually, I don't think a scratch will hurt. But if you make a impact to the glass, you may get it to crack along the scratch more easily. (Without the scratch, it probably going to be broke anyway...)

Cosmatically, it may not be a good thing. All my tanks are acrylics, so I am used to seeing scratches. But glass scratch is more difficult to repair. You need to drain the tank and use Os. oxide to polish the scratch. Hard work. Good luck.

who's Saturn?
Father of Zeus/Jupiter, but later found to be a Roman, and not a Greek.

i have a glass tank, and every so often i'll get a scratch on the inside when using the algae magnet (a larger sand particle will sometimes jump in between the scraper and the glass when going along the bottom). anyway, i wouldn't worry about it. i've had a few scratches in my tank for 2 years w/ no problems -- merely a cosmetic issue IMHO

Thanks, I didn't really think that anything would be wrong, but... i didn't really want to take a chance and have something horribly wrong happen.

Thanks again!

Kevin
