Always go with built-in overflows if at all possible. This option will afford the least amount of headaches in the long run in my experience. The biggest reason I recommend this is that with overflow boxes you are always relying on a siphon, with a built-in the head of the water creates the overflow and no siphon is required, therefore there is one less thing to go wrong.

In my opinion it is best to keep things as simple as possible.

hi.
I agree. One other obvious thing to think about is the thin overflow design of CPR. Unlike siphon tub that you can take out and clean with a brush, the CPR overflow is a real pain to clean.

The built ins are less likely to overflow the tank or the sump. I would go for builtin as well.

Go with the built in overflow, unless you want a CPR CS50 real cheap

, the CPR overflow is a real pain to clean.

I can't believe the amount of tube worms, sponges and other things encrused on the inside of my overflow after two years of use.

I am currently working on a new concept, under flows. They go on the bottom of the tank instead of the top. Since they are on the bottom they can never overflow on to your carpet. Just one problem, does anyone know how to make water flow up? Have a Great weekend guys, George

Hmmm, if I am thinking what you are thinking on the underflow idea, I am imagining flooded carpet when power goes down.

For the overflow, water will stop draining at the overflow rim. If you change it to "underflow", water will drain till the tank is empty.
