i know in the past people have posted links to auctions on ebay warning members, while getting a good laugh, of bogus stuff people are trying to sell to other unsuspecting reefers. i was just in the for sale forum and saw some stuff at a price that was quite frankly a joke. i can see a new reefer jumping on this due to impulse, lack of experience and lack of knowledge. i also know it's not cool to post on peoples threads trying to keep them from doing business, but if there is a "bad deal" would it be so wrong to call it out (whether it's intentional or not)?? if not couldn't the same clowns selling on ebay become members here and try their trickery here??


this doesn't apply to most of the people here on MR. most are actually very sweet sweet deals

I think people here usually call someone out on it. I've seen people post links showing the new price of an item or outright calling someone out on it.

i think i know which thread you guys are refering to :scratchch not sure what can be done about it since that would be trying to distroy the sell, guess it's up to the buyer to be educated enough to know what to buy and for how much it's worth to them

All the information is here for them if they choose to read it. They can also ask any questions and have them answered. IMO if people want to rip each other off thats their business. It's their money. Just remember who is who though so you don't give them "friend prices" in the future :biglaugh:

but if people can rip each other off because it's Their business wouldn't that be the same excuse i could use for calling out a bad deal in their thread,?? would i be sooo wrong to try and inform someone. this isn't even something close to "in the gray area" way past that. insulting to our community in my opinion

I would love to bash some of the a$$holes selling crap but as a member (especially a mod ) I should follow the rules. I suggest maybe starting a thread calling these people out.

I looked at the thread.
I'd put the blame on the LFS this new reefer shops at.
I'd bet anything those are the prices he is used to seeing for soft corals.
Maybe to him he's offering it for a "deal" :tired:
