I have a 36"L x 18W dual bio-ball chamber and a 18L x 18WW sump area wet/dry on my 180. I would like to convert part of this into a refugium, but am not sure how to go about it. This will be my first refugium. How big does it have to be. If I use the bio-ball chamber farthest away from the pump the all of the sand and critters still get sucked into the pump? The pumpis an ampmaster 3000 and is very powerful. Here is a pic of my wet/dry filter. Please advise.

Wet / Dry Filter Similar to the one I own

I could not get the image to display.

Fill it w/ 4"-6" of southdown and coarser sand, place several small chunks of Liverock on the sand and add a small light. Don't worry abouth the pumps. Only some of the critters will get sucked up, and the pumps wont kill all the ones that do get sucked up.
