Hey Chris,
The first thing that comes to my mind when keeping barnacles in a closed system environment is their feeding habits. Providing the plankton or plankton substitute they would need to thrive as filter feeders would provide a challenge.

Yes, Chris, a feeding challenge to say the least. I'd say that your chances of successfully meeting the challenge would be about nil. Do a little reading and research on these. They are voracious filter feeders and as such wouldn't be expected to survive in a closed system for any significant length of time.
