Can you identify which rock he hides in? If so, remove that rock when he is in it. Suspend that rock a couple inches above a bucket of water for a few minutes and watch carefully. He should drop out to get back into the water. This should not take long enough to hurt an ordinary live rock. If there are corals on that rock, don't risk it. Some people have had good luck with traps, but this worked well for me.
