Hi
I have a hippo tang that had/has ich.
He has 2 different coloered spots.
The what I assume is live ich is bright white.
I freshwater dipped him last night.
The bright white spots are all but gone but he has like real light spots on him noe where the ich was is that normal?

ich has a 3 day cycle. It's going to take a few treatments to break the cycle. You might want to try kick ich -its reef safe - to end cycle in tank. If FO tank, you can turn lights out for few days, so I have read from others that ich seems to depend to some extent on light to reproduce.

OThers have used the new garlic treatments to treat ich in their tank. (my experience is with kick ich and it's been effective the 2 times I have used, once in early stages of tank, and once a few weeks ago.

Ich is common this time of year due to temp changes. Most homes/apts. are not hot enough to run AC but are not really cool enough to run heat and you get lot of temp change which stress the fish.

I have used kich ick before and I an using it now I was just wondering about the spots where the ick has dropped off is it normal for them to have small kind of cloudy spots where the ick has come off afer the FW dip?

I heard mention of "stages of Ich" I was wondering if anyone can describe the stages in detail. I beleive my two clowns have black Ich (maybe) but It is not like I have seen it on my (deceased) Yellow tang. I would describe the black Ich on my tang as being tiny black beads all over the fish, and what my clowns have now is more like small black blotches. It almost looks like normal coloring and is not present on the white stripes.

Any info is appreciated.
