Shrooms are like roaches. They are difficult to remove once established. They are the damsels of the coral world. If you can get a grip pull them off by hand. If not,you can cut them off, but, they usually grow back. But,by cutting and selling them you are just cropping them back. Just be sure to use a sharp razor. You could support your hobby by taking them to the LFS for money or credit.

I had a camel shrimp (Rhynchocinetes uritai). The thing ripped mine to shreds.

I don't know if they would harm any of your other polyps. It is said to nip at these corals along with some leathers and polyps.

Good luck

I have blue/purple mushroom corals taking over my tank. Every four months I take about 100 to the fish store (the loose ones and those collected off the sand bottom) and I also shoot up others with kalkwasser that are growing over my polyps and coral.
Any recommendations on how to reduce this herd?
I would include a photo if I could figure out how - no server here. Let me know if you want one sent.
Thanks, Steve.

Send 'em to me.

If you didn't want them, why did you buy them?

If you dislike them greatly, swap the rocks they're on for others w/out the mushrooms. I'm sure LFS owners and other reefers would be down.

Sell 'em yourself online... even better, trade 'em for stuff you want with your LFS or other reefers.

I'm a 'shroomhead though, so feel free to ignore my opinion.

Running your reef with high calcium and alk along with 'high' lighting and 'low' nutrients will favor stony coral growth over "shrooms".Keep Iodine additions down to a minimum as well. The only Iodine my 220g receives is via feedings- and the Iodine is mostly introduced by NORI in my feeding regime.I've limited my "shrooms' reproduction by these methods. They still reproduce, but at a MUCH slower rate. They are beautiful and I'm sure you can get someone to take them off your hands if all else fails! GOOD LUCK!

Anywhere from weeks to months.
