Tried searching this site for info on purple sea plume and didn't get any hits. Can anyone tell me whether these corals are photosynthetic or filter feeders. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Annick,
Pseudopterogorgia are commonly called Sea Plumes. P. bipinnata and P. americana are commmon ones offered for sale. They are photosynthetic.
Try doing a search on Google.com for more info and pics.

Dick pretty much covered it. Thgey have the purple bodies and tan polyps, and they are photosynthetic.

I have one, but haven't gotten a chance to snap a pic yet.

I'm sure you'll get hits with the info that Dick gave, but you might want to give yourself a treat and get Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman - probably more than you'll ever want to know about almost any coral you're likely to encounter in the trade.

I have a P. americana in my tank, along with a Purple Sea Rod (Muricea laxa), which is also a Photosynthetic gorg.
