Silencing the silencer (Stockman)

I have built my Stockman silencer for my AGA overflow. I have installed the plastic airline valve at the top of the pipe. My problem is that the valve hisses loudly. Any suggestions on silencing the silencer?

Also I get alot of bubbling in my sump. I am using a Titanium T3 pump (850gph) which is pushing my AGA overflow to the limit. What have you done to silence the return within the sump?

You could try a longer line with one of those ball silencers with a sponge inside. Or you can slow down the flow by 50 gph or so.
