Can LR die? I mean of course it can but how hard is it to kill. My tank has had this hair and Dino problem for so long is it possible to "choke" the life out of the LR?

If the algae covers all available holes on the rock it could kill any o2 loving bacteria. But I would expect that to be quite difficult for algae to make the rock o2 free. However,it will take away LR space that would normally house the good stuff.
