Hello. Eight days ago I purchased and acclimated some star polyps in my tank. They haven't opened yet. Any suggestions?

Helpful info: Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites, at zero. Ph at 8.3 Specific Gravity at a slight bit less than 1.023. Calcium at 415 Alkalinity at ±3.0 meq/L. 120 lbs of LR in 110 gallon tank. Temp = 76-77

Lighting 330 watts VHO in the form of 1 50/50 actinic, 1 sun, and 1 actinic white. Lights on about 10 hours per day.

Polyps were in a very strong flow of water and at the top of the live rock. Today, following advice from LFS, I moved them lower in the water column and put them in indirect light at the edge of the LR and at the edge of the direct overhead light. Also moved them out of the strong current. There is still a flow of water past them.

Any suggestions or explanations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes mine close up for a few days at a time. Most likely they are just dormant for a while too acclimate to your conditions. Find a good spot for them and do not disturb them. They always close up for a while after being handled.

Just give it time. As said above, sometimes if they are touched they will close up. Mine sometimes close up for days at a time, although there are a couple of colonies of the same polyps and they will close up independently of each other.
