Has anyone had any experience doing this? I want to order 45 pounds from petwarehouse. The cost is $99.00 plus $30.00 for shipping. Is this a good deal?
i ordered 2 boxes of this- it is fiji and pretty good quality. You will have to recure it once it arrives!!! (I cycled my tank this way-seen some never before seen colors on the amm/nit/nitrate tests!). Now I have many small feather dusters, polyps, a few tunicates and peanut worms.
You are right bashcraft. Down in the fine print they have it as $.99 a lb. On the shipping page they had it as 0-$150.00 = $30.00 shipping. Oh well it's still a good deal. Works out to about $3.00 a pound compared to $5.50 at that LFS.
TasDevil: Did you have to get it on backorder? If so how lond did it take to get?
roach- Originally, i had ordered the branch rock, was backordered for over a month!
Then I changed my order to 52 45 lb boxes, which arrived 4 days later
The only drawbakc was the smell-found a few sponges that where probably causing this and it cured very rapidly-2wks until nitrates where dropping down.
So far, hav not seen any aiptasia either, but do have something sticking out of tube with long thin wavy tentacles, that is very small, and retracts when disturbed immediately. Doesnt look like fan/tube worm, not quite sure what it is. Also, have found some live clams i believe, closed when light shines on them.
Checkout my thread for pics of my rock. Hope this is ok to link? If not i will redo the reply. I ordered this online monday and had it wednesday. It was $143 w/shipping and so far has turned out very nicely. I still have mine curing in tubs since i'm still figuring out my stand. HTH
Can someone give me a simple way (instructions) for re-curing LR? I want to order some to be shipped and will have to re-cure. I'm setting up a 125g tank and will be adding the LR into the tank at about 5 weeks (from start of tank). Is there an inexpense recipe for re-curing? Tubs, lights, ect.
