24hrs. since gluing PVC but still smells...okay to use?

Well, I need to replace some piping in my setup, so I glued the replacement pipes/valves yesterday using standard PVC cleaner (oakley yellow label) and glue (oakly brown label). It's been 24 hrs, and I still smell the solvent smell. I blew air through the pipes and ran water through for at least 30 minutes each. Do you think it's okay to use, or should I wait until I can't smell the glue?? Thanks!

I've used PVC 24 hours after gluing w/o a problem. Actually, I've probably used it the same day.

Most likely that the smell is from a compound that isn't water soluble (non-polar). Any that is in the tank should quickly be partitioned into your skimmate (if you have a protein skimmer). If you want to be safe, float a bag of activated carbon - should take up anything nasty.

I usually only wait 1 hour. Never had a problem.

I have always found well glued pvc joints safe to use after 24 hours. Check the label on the can for drying times which I understand can vary with temperature and humidity.

(The whole setup is still there, without a drip though!)

Yah I know what you mean... I had a cut on my hand and some of that stuff got in... the pain literally shot up my arm.
