Quiet Air Pump

Hi I'm looking for a quiet air pump to put on my bak pack that is in the bedroom. Are there any quiet air pumps that are suitable for the bedroom?

I remember the Quiet Giant when I was a kid, quiet and powerful. Why did the give up manufactureing this quality air pump?


Any suggestions are appreciated.

I saw an article one time that showed that you could suspend an airpump in a large glass jar(hang it inside). I think he had some sort of check valve glued into the top of it to let air in. It supposedly worked.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm tempted to try the Optimal Schego Air Pump. Supposedly extremely quiet, we'll see.

A Tetra-Tec Deepwater 96-2 has been the best bang for my buck...prolly overkill for a bakpak though.

I live in a condo. I just took the plunge and ordered a Rena 300. Hopefully it'll be quiet.

The Rena air pump is an excellent air pump. They are very very quiet and I sell a lot of them at the fish store I work at. I can tell you they have a good track record and they are quiet. Did I mention they are quiet?

Great to hear that they are quiet. My only other experience with air pumps is the Tetra luft good pump but man can you hear it. Also the Otto 1100, great pump but you know it's really going (loud).

Most LFSs sell air tubing for 10cents-20cents/foot. If your basement is under your bedroom, drill a hole in the floor and run the hose to your basement. Keep the air pump in your basement.

I have a Luft Pump in my basement. The basement is the quietest solution if you can get there easily.

It's been about a month now. How is the Rena working out, is it really quiet? I'm looking into buying one to run my skimmer which is also in my bedroom and would love to hear how you like yours.
