My tank is somewhat overun with grape caulerpa. I cant find the extra nutrient base. Dont know what they are feeding on. Have great coral growth and candy canes and xenia reproducing like crazy!!!! What tang or crabs, snails keep this under control?? I think I am going to start running more carbon. May need more protein skimming too.

A good skimmer is another nutrient export for sure. Most tangs will eat it, but you don't mention your tank size.

I finally found a caulerpa which was a different variety of the grape caulerpa I had normally tried, to put in a skimmerless 33g I have set up.
I killed most of it off with a major water change....

Reduce the nutrients and it will go away.

At least its easier to pull out than microalgae. You will be exporting nutrients as you do this as well.

Maybe you could get it to grow in your sump, then it would be easier to control in the display tank.

I had the same problem and almost totally have it cleared up now. I pulled mine out every week for about a month and added my purple tang who cant get enough of the stuff. I had qa yellow who didnt care all that much for it, not sure why (he died when moving my tank anyway, but the purple is hardy and a great eater.

I was also beginning to get overrun with grape caulerpa until I purchased a sailfin tang. She devoured all of it within days and now I'm going to grow it in my refugium to supplement her feeding. I have a 58G FWLR.
