It should be fine. From what I understand, Kent salt is just a private label version of I/O. it comes from the same source.

Thanks... I didnt really want the hassle of returning the salt. I cant understand how ignorant some stores may be, I ordered IO, it says on the packing slip IO, even stamped with a "Packed with Pride" signed stamp .... How do you mess up and send something diferent??

Kent salt is NOT IO. It is made by Aquarium Systems, for Kent, but is a different recipe than IO.

That said it is a fine salt. You shouldn't notice any difference.

I only use Kent and am very happy with it, I would also reiterate that even though IO and Kent are produced by the same factory, they are different recipes and not exactly the same salt - I would have no issues in using the kent though - in fact it's usually slightly more expensive and some consider it superior

I used to use Kent salt and switched to IO because the store didn't have Kent in stock. The only difference I can tell is Kent salt leaves a film of residue on top after mixing. Now I don't want to switch back because IO mixes cleaner
