OK....

Please explain to me how you take a bulb wattage (250wt MH) and figure how much it will cost to operate. Is the 250wt per hour, per day, per week? Then how do you reconsile it to the electricity rate I get charged?

This has always bugged me!

electricity is usuallly charged in kilowatt-hour units which is equal to 1000 watts for a period of one hour.

a 250 watt bulb will use one kilowatt hour in 4 hours time (i.e. 1000 watt-hours/250 watts=4 hours)

this amounts to 6 kilowatts hours a day (i.e. 24 hours/4 hours = 6 kilowatts per day)

this amounts to 180 kilowatts a month

the cost to operate then depends on what you pay for kilowatt hours from your electricity provider

Cool. Thanks! I've always wondered how all this was calculated.
