ok i am at a LFS in the detroit area yesterday and i saw something advertised as "new" on the shelf. this was advertised as a "new" kind of life rock. this was actually... and i kid you not) base rock that was painted purple to simulate coraline. i almost laughed my head off. they even wanted $3.00/#. i guess the additional $2.00/# more was to cover the cost of the paints. this one has to take the cake as the all time funniest. i think it was p.t. barnum that said "a sucker is born every minute".

Bill:

Yeah, the material used to make Walt's base rock is dyed purple.

Then it sits out on the reef for a while and grows REAL corraline algae and other goodies on it.

Unless of course Walt is now selling the pure dry base-rock. Is that what you meant?

Cheers
James

This stuff has actually been around for about 2 years. It's Carib-Sea Reef Rock, with purple and green paint specks. They call it "Look Alive".

We bought a box to use in static display tanks. I.e., one of the tanks for sale, set up with this and fake corals, but no water.

That's about all it's good for.
