I've had a fairly successful 100 gallon reef tank for 5+ years (LPS, SPS, and Softies) and now I want to do a nano tank specifically for SPS corals and small clams. Please comment on the preliminary spec:

* 20 gallon TruVu (24"Lx13"Wx16"H) with a divider wall along the length for a sump/refugium - this will provide a 17"Lx13"Wx16"H viewing tank
* Build a 1.5 gallon reverse carlson surge device into the sump
* Use a MaxiJet 1200 for the return pump from the sump to the main tank
* Use a BackPak 2 for the protien skimmer located on the sump (maybe modify the skimmer w/ the MaxiJet 1200 and venturi nozzle)
* Build a custom hanging hood with a PFO mini pendent - 150W double ended MH (10,000K) AB bulb for main lighting and w/ two 13W actinic PC's for supplemental lighting.
* Have a 4" DSB (Southdown)
* Have around 20 lbs of live rock
* Use a 13W - 5000K PC for lighting on the refugium (reverse day light)
* Build a custom surrounding stand that will "hide" the refugium and the DSB - it's kind of hard to describe.

As stated above, I'd like to keep SPS's and Clams in the tank along with a few fish (I'm thinking of having 2 cardinal fish and maybe two little green gobies). I will keep the calc/alk parameters w/ those 2 part solutions. I'd like to have the tank on my desk top. Please let me know what you think of this set-up. Do I have "too much" lighting?

Please respond and thanks,

dave
