My SPS are being attacked by some virus or bacteria. Symptoms start with swelling and slightly darker discoloration of the affected polyps. After a couple hours, the swelling turns into white mush and "pops". It has affected 4 types of acropora, a montipora digitata, and a porites colony. Another M. digitata, M. cap, turbinaria, pectinia, and open brain appear to be unaffected so far. Areas with lower water flow and/or less light seem more affected. But even the growing tips of some acropora in the highest flow areas have been affected. What can it be, and what can I do?

I know brought it upon myself. About 2 weeks ago, I did a massive cleaning of my 20gal tank (pulled 1 gallon bucketful of algae and did a 20% water change) after having neglected it for a month. The sudden change in water conditions coupled with increased light (cleaner water) probably triggered it. Not to mention the overstocking of different species. I don't want to lose it all, especially so slowly. I've fragged off the infected areas, where possible. And I've dosed 1ml of Kent's Tech I (iodine supplement) every morning. I haven't changed anything else for fear of worsening things.

Help,
Gerald
