Is this a rose anenome?

I bought this from an online livestock supplier as a rose anenome about 3 years ago. It has grown from 3" across to over 18" across. It has never divided and I have never seen any bubble tips under any lighting conditions. It has survived several tank disasters which have killed almost everything in the tank (including being exposed to air for 6 hours)Seeing recent threads and pictures of rose anenomies makes me wonder if that is what it actually is. Your opinions please!

Well, from the looks of it, it certainly isnt rose colored any more. What color was it when you first got it? Rose anemones are equads that have a reddish or orangish color to them. Did yours change colors? That very well can happen to a rose if there isnt enough lighting.

Sorry about the picture, however it is a bright pink color and has been the same color since I got it.

well it looks like a LT not a BTA. I have a rose and it looks nothing like it

I have a rose as well and it looks nothing like yours either. Mine is much smaller but it does have bubble tips and is a dark pink color.

That's not a M. doryensis (sp?) or Long Tentacle anemone, they have radial lines from the mouth out all over the disk.

There are two kinds of E quads (most have noted) the clonal kind and the non-clonal kind.

The clonal kind never get big - they divide instead.

The non-clonal kind get very big and they usually have longer tentacles.

It looks like you have a non-clonal Rose Equad anemone, congratulations.

There is also a mixture of the two, we have them here at the shop, they get huge and split like crazy.

These ones are in our 75 show and we have approximately 10 of them in that bommie to the left.

My LFS has a pretty big bubble tip with a vicious tomato clown living in it and it has split many times. It is currently about 10-12" in diameter!

Yep, I agree, except for the picture color-shift, it looks like my rose BTAs.
