I have a 20 gallon tank sitting around so I'm thinking I want to set it up as a sump for my 29g reef. I have no experience with overflow boxes; my other two tanks are drilled. I've looked at the CPR, Ultra-Life and the Amiracle overflows. Does it matter what type of overflow I use? What else do I need besides the box? Pumps, hoses I imagine. Or do these overflows generally come with all the accessories? Any idea on what size? The CPR comes in 300, 600, 800, 1400/gph. Help

Susan, I like the Marineland SOS the best. It is a simple design, very quite and never lost siphon. I don't know how it compares in price to the others however.
Now having said that I found the most important thing is GPH going through the system. If you don't have enough GPH going through the siphon tube these kinds of over flows tend to get air trapped in them which can lead to them loosing their siphon. My suggestion would be to try and match the GPH up to the siphon (keeping head in mind) as close as possible with what the over flow is rated at with whichever one you decide to go with.
