Rios meltdown and can cause a whole tank crash. The inner workings can crack or just malfunction and if you do a search, youll find more in depth reasons.

I just got rid of my rio 2500(only 2 months old) and replaced it with a sedra 7000. It was a big relief and im happy. Get the mag..youll be happy.

75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. Like I said before I want to make sure the overflow box can handle the flow. I am not 100% sure of the gpm of the box

mag 7 people seem to like. Do some research cause Ive heard of the mag 7's having issues too....

Sen/sedra makes a nice submergable pump too. Theres a sedra 5000 and 7000 and up...and im sure down too. Im happy with mine so far and they have a ton of water pressure at 4' head.

the 7000 is 700 gph at 4' head. 5000 is 500 gph at 4 ' head...and so on.

FWIW, the appropriate return pump size cannot be calculated without knowning the vertical distance (head) that the pump will need to cover, or the size of the pipe, not to mention the overflow's rating.

If you buy a mag, do'nt buy the mag 7. It has problems. Bump up to the mag 9. Thats a great pump. Very quiet too. You can fix up a gate valve on it if it needs to be toned down.

I have the MAG 9 on my 75 and it works well. I have a ball valve hooked up to the outlet on it but I run it wide open. It has about 4 feet of head and two 90 degree elbows in the pipe.

I can't tell you enough to stay away from RIO. My 2500 seized up today. I took it out and yanked the impeller. The pump was literally smoking!
I too am looking into Mag and sedra.
