reccomend a battery backup

I am in the market for a battery backup to run some powerheads in case of a blackout. I already use a DJ powerstrip which is 1 OU. I'd like to get a battery backup which is also 1 OU (maybe 2 OU for a great unit) so that I can use some standard server rack mounts to give a sleek integrated look and also allow for quick removal.

Any reccomendations?

Check out American Power Conversion's also known as APC.

The site has a configuration tool, typically used with CPU's, but if I remember correctly, you can input the energy consumption in watts, and the configurator will give you a couple of options.

In my option, you won't need to go too crazy, if you just want a unit that will keep your pumps going. If you want to keep the lights up and running that's another story. Good luck with it.

Not looking for a regular battery backup that you can get from staples. Looking for a 1U or 2U battery backup. Th type that you would mount in a server rack. Looking for a reccomendation on a good one

APC designates each of their Rack mount models with RM in the part/model number. Beyond that you will also see 1u or 2u etc in the part number. Can recommend a model, because I don't have all of the variables. Depends on wattage, and the duration of run time that your looking to cover. Gets expensive quickly.

Check out http://www.refurbups.com I've used them a lot with success. Many of the Rack Mount UPS use a 20amp outlet with a different rounded plug (I'm not sure the technical name). They also weight a ton. I'm also a Dell Reseller so if you can find it on the Dell site, I can probably get you a better price. PM me if you need any help.

The unit that use a 220v have funky outlet connections, stick with 115v to use standard grounded wall outlets.

Not sure about refurbups.com, not putting it down, but my guess is that the company does not replace the battery with an APC brand batteries, which ofcourse, APC will have you believe aren't using the same quality battery cells.. Now, I'm no scientist, can't tell you if that's the case or not, but when I was selling these things, OEM branded always cost alot more than generic stuff.

Just my $5 on it.

Refurb UPS does not use APC branded batteries, but I've had good luck with whatever batteries they do use. I deal with a lot of smaller clients so I'm not all that versed on the rackmount UPSs although I've installed a handful of them.

I would suggest the biggest APC battery backup you could afford.
