RO/DI Unit

What do you think would be the best RO unit to get. Right now im on a tight budget with my after high school job. I was thinking someting like Kent's Bare Bones unit. Right now I am just using a water filter I made with a Canster filter and a cartridge from home depot. But I am having a problem with phosphates(sp?). What would you suggest?

I actually looked at that unit also. However, the ReefPure unit came with the flush kit, 2 connectors, and a pressure guage. You have to pay extra to get all that with Kent. It also put out 50gpd and with a TDS monitor and shipping I still only paid 170.00. It works great too.

Ok, im thinking of getting the Kent Maxxima Hi-S. Its 5 stage and puts out 35 gallon per day. They are selling it at reeffanatic.com for 185.00

DO any of you have experience with this ro/di unit, if so, what do you think?

I also looked around quite a bit and decided on the Reefpure. Mine came with extra cartridges, two connectors, TDS meter, flush kit etc. Mine is rated for 100gpd and was on sale for $180 including shipping. I haven't used it yet, but I should receive it next monday. It seemed like a fantastic deal to me, and I have heard very good things from other members. Try calling Dave direct 407-252-8327.

question on using an RO/DI unit.
if I attach the unit to a faucet head, does the water pressure matter?

The water pressure does matter tho I dont know how low it can be and still work, I think youd have to have fairly poor water flow for it to not work considerings its just a 1/4 inch tube...but if you get one and it doesnt work they do sell booster pumps for ro systems

on my membrane it has a pressure range on it...I'm assuming that is the approriate operation range

My pressure gauge reads 35 and it works fine, and I dont think i have very strong water out of the faucet otherwise.

I just purchased a RO/DI from Reefpure and am very happy

I bought the 100gpd Tornado, with two connection types, an extra prefilter and Carbon filter, TDS meter, and free shipping to Canada for $190. Talk to Dave and he'll make sure that you are happy. The service has been super as well, the unit was supposed to come with a TDS meter but didn't so I called them up and they mailed it out, no hassels. My tank is looking great since I've had it running, I used to get an cyano algae bloom with every water change but the tank is perfectly clear of it now... it's only been 1 week. Go with Reefpure it's worth it.

I have an AquaFX 4 stage baracuda RO/DI unit 100 gal per day, I also live in an partment few floors up, had to get a presure pump for the unit cause I was not getting enough presure from the line in my partment, I also got the pump at www.aquariumwaterfilters.com look under miscelanious, regular presure 20-25 psi with pump 40-50 psi big difference, cya.
