Well its been around 2 years since i set up my 44 and now its gotta be out of the house by November 15th! We just sold our house and ready to move in to our new one, so it's time for a new system, this 44 ain't coming w/ me!

This is how i will be setting up the new system, i've already ordered the lights and sump but want some input on everything else.

Tank: AGA 120 RR 4'x 2'x 2'

Lighting: 2x400w 65k Iwasaki on PFO ballast, 2x110w VHO URI actinics on Ice-cap ballast in a PFO hood w/ icecap fans.

Water Movement: 4 Maxi-jet 1200's on wavemaster pro. 2 Mag 7's for return.

Filtration: Jason Kim from Aqua-C is making me a custom sump to fit his EV 180 (mag 7 pump). Water enters on left where the skimmer is, baffles into refugium in middle, and baffles to where the returns are. The whole thing is 30" long. Theres a sponge in there somewhere. Not sure how it's going to be lit or if i'll even start it right away. 24" CPR aqua-fuge on back lit by a 65w PC (planning on growing mangroves out of it).

I have 50 lbs of fiji, 25lbs of tonga branch, and 35lbs of tonga specialty (really nice) already curing downstairs (walking into a cellar that stinks like someone died is always a good selling feature of a house). Going to order and cure 100lbs of florida LS. I have 150lbs of southdown and will mix in some other kind of sand to mix up the partical sizes. I'll be using all the sand and rock from my previous tank in this one.

Depending on my state of brokeness i'll get a ca reactor hopefully in a month or so.

I'm really nervous about moving my tank, especially the SPS, so i've been giving out frags like a mad-man (if anything dies i'll come knocking on doors "hey, can i have that back?") just to cover my butt.

Any thing you would do different?

MonkeyBoy:

One piece of advice on the sump... figure out how you will light it BEFORE you have it built... From experience here- I wish I had considered a couple of things when I built my own sump BEFORE I started it.

How much total LR?

Sounds like you are on the right track. The lighting is right on the money. Plan for fans on the heat issue, though. I have two blowing on the water in my sump.

Eh, well he finished it friday, it's going out tomorrow... I think i'll try another 65w pc, i also have a 96w power quad hanging around. You have a good point.

I'll have 1 or 2 fans under the hanging hood and 1 or 2 keeping the cabinet clear of warm air and for evap.

I think i have around 50 lbs of LR in my 44, but i'm going to weigh it all before, giving me around 150. I also have about 15 lbs of LR rubble for the sump. 150 should be good, i don't want the whole tank to be rock, i want plenty of open sand.

About the frags, i have 6 or 7 medium sized colonies of which i've taken over 20 frags from in the last couple of days, i'm just about fragged out. Once the tank is up and healthy i want to take a day trip up to Nashua to inland reef, maybe we can get together and trade some stuff?
