Aqualine Kalkwasser reactor...

Anyone using one of these? I'd like to connect it to my ro/di top-off via a float in the sump. Right now it's just straight r/o going into the sump, i'd like to stick the reactor in between, and have all the top-off kalkwasser. Now, is that what everyones doing w/ the reactors or do you use a pump from a resevoir? Also, i would probably have to clean the float regularly to prevent the kalk from clogging up the seal so the ro will shut off, has anyone had any long term problems w/ this? TIA

Monkey, most people are using a dosing pump with these and thats what I plan on doing. Water pulled out of top off by dosing pump, then goes to Kalk reactor, Kalk reactor feeds sump.

Ahhh, not a bad idea, this way there's no fooling around w/ a float valve and kalkwasser. Are you going to be using a litermeter or something else, Steve?

I am using a DIY Nielsen reactor, but it runs the same course as SPC describes, pump feeds resivoir, resivoir feeds reactor, reactor feeds sump. I have only 2 issues with my setup, neither of which are major. The first is that occasionly, the doisng pump will feed at the same time the kalk mixer pump is running, so I get a little stronger than wanted dose of kalk. The other is that once a month or so, I have to clean out a buildup of kalk in the line feeding the sump. Other than that, I have been more than happy with it. Definatley a great time saver.

is your reactor mixing with a clear saturated kalk on top so that is what's going to the sump and shouldn't cause a problem with clogging. i set mine to mix six times a day and the peristaltic pump comes on with a floatswitch. in this way you do get a little stronger dose once in awhile. i've been watching my ph with a pinpoint meter and no significant difference.

The line from the reactor into the sump, which is standard airline tubing, has never clogged, just gets a buildup in it over time. I just do it as more of a preventative thing.

Monkey, yes I am going to use a Litermeter. I am having Myreef build the kalk reactor for me and we are going with a magnetic stirrer as opposed to a power head for mixing. I currently use a float for my top off and considered it for the kalk reactor as well. The reason I went with the dosing pump was:
1. Less kalk delivered at one time.
2. Won't have to worry about the float getting stuck in the on position (hasen't happened yet but I sure worry about it.
