in-line VS. submersable pump

I'm planning on making my own sump w/refugium and want to know what type of pump I should use as my return pump. In-line or submersible?? As this will make a difference in the design of my sump

In-line pumps do not add stray voltage to the tank and add less heat.

I tried a Mag7 for a return pump and found it to be noisy and they are known to add heat (more than other pumps) to the water.

What size tank are we talking about?

The main tank is a 5ft long 105g Oceanic tank

Hi Mark, if it were me I would go with an external pump. I have used both and found like mentioned above that the submersables did add alot of heat to the tank (about +3 deg in my case). I am currently using an Amp Master 3000 and can't see any temperature elevation due to the pump.
