Hi there,
I just purchased what was called a "coral anthias" at the LFS. Now I had never heard of this type of anthias and there was no scientific name for it. Sorry I don't have any pictures. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any info on the scientific name of this fish. I know there are a lot of common names for fish and not all of them everyone has heard of but hopefully somebody out there knows what I am talking about. It looks rather similar to the bicolor anthias in shape but it doesn't have the pink underbelly and fins. The one I have is mostly orange but if I look closely it does have a pink stripe behind the eye angling down towards the pectoral fin. It is rather small (only about 2 inches long) so I am thinking it is probably juvenile and hasn't gotten its adult coloring yet??
Anyone have any info??
TIA
Christy

Christy,

You've just described one of about 2 dozen species of Anthias. Unfortunately, we'll need you to be more specific. Picture or scientific name are the only two things that will suffice.
