Does anyone use the new AquaC EV120 or 180???

I am thinking about buying one of these. My biggest concern is the water level in the sump. Will I have to maintain the water level to a certain point?? Or will it work great as long as the water level is below the gate valve?? What has been your experience with this skimmer?

Just got my 180, manual says just as long as it is below 8" in the sump then all is well. Haven't had it working yet...still breaking-in.
