All my water parameters are good, yet my leather is not extending its polyps. I have not changed any lighting parameters. Whenever I run carbon, it improved and extended its polyps a little. I know there is something in the water, but what??
I am dosing pickling lime with vinegar (30mL/gal.) and noticed the next day the polyps would retract. This has gone for a week now. Please advise...thanx

What exactly are your dKH and magnesium readings??? I had the same problem with mine until I raised my alkalinity and mag.

don't know what my magnesium level is, but my alk. is around 4.5meq/mL? I still think it has something to do with the use of vinegar to force more Ca to dissolve in my top-off water. Anyone has similiar experience?

How long have you had this coral?
Have you run through all the chemistry checks--pH, Alk, NH3, NO2, NO3--since it's been showing signs?

Most leathers close up for days or weeks at a time, then shed a layer of mucus before opening back up again. If it's new to the tank, it'll probably close up immediately and shed. They've got to do this in order to grow.

I have this coral for 3 months now I think. All water parameters are good, but not great; which is the same as before when the leather was looking good.
