Anyone have any tips/ideas on how to cut the noise down on my overflow box. The section outside the tank that moves the water to my wet/dry is really loud.

I had that problem until I put a piece of foam right outside the hole where the water starts to fall down (in other words, where the pvc pipe starts to go down).

Foam...hmmm..maybe not the right word. I meant like the pre-filter media that comes with filters now-a-days. Sorry...Later

YOu could try a stockman or a durso mod. Do a search and see what you come up with.

I made an acrylic cover ($5 srcap 1/4" acrylic from a plastic supply store) that I cut to fit the top of the overflow. I then cut a matching piece of felt which went on top of that. Voila! Totally quiet!

I had the same problem. I put a bioball on the pipe that acted as a difuser. Instead of one big stream of water going down the pipe, it broke it up into about 8 small streams. I then put a foam prefilter over the bioball and pipe to keep the bioball from getting clogged with detrius. But you will have to clean the sponge prefilter about once a week to remove the detrius so it will not contribute to nitrate buildup.
