Does anyone own this book by Martin Moe? In one of the chapters Moe docuemnted a "recipe" he was using to feed his rotifers so he didn't have to culture phytoplankton. Would someone please forward me the recipe as my library cannot seem to locate a copy of it anywhere.

I have a copy at home Shane. Drop me a line later on.

So...does this mean you're "expecting?"

Cheers
James

I'd be interested as well, as I continually have clutches of GSM eggs I might try to raise if I didn't have to do the whole phytoplankton-culturing thing

I believe it was V8 juice that he said he used. He mentioned that 1 to 2 years ago at the MACNA conference. it worked to keep the rotifers going but I do NOT believe he had used V8 enriched rotifers to feed to fry but more as a method of keeping rotifers alive during an algae crash. I was going to try it but I think I drank the V8 juice I got to experment with.

Nope, not yet James. I just got that peppermint shrimp breeding book that was discussed on AA last week and the author mentioned that Moe had devised a home made concoction to keep his rotifers going w/o having to deal with growing phyto. I'm also interested in breeding clowns so having a recipe to feed rotifers w/o having to resort to culturing phyto would be a plus.

Thanks for looking this up for me!

Hi Shane,

One teaspoon nutritional yeast, couple drops selco and an ounce of V8 in one pint of water then sieved through 500 micron screen. Also added one tablet of B vitamin complex.

He added 75 mls to a 3 gal tray culture.
