I have finally transferred over everything from my 34 month old 20G to my new 30G tank. The 30G is filled with 100lbs of generic HD playsand and since I didn't want any of my old 20G's CC, I slowly went thru all of it looking for whatever I could move over. Here's some of what I found:

Cup measures 4" in diameter and is filled with maybe 1/2 to 3/4lb of CC:

And this is what I found in that 1/2-3/4lb of CC:

I noticed that I found a higher worm concentration in areas where I had more flow in the tank while "dead" areas had fewer worms. Here is what I found after approximately 3-4lbs of CC:

After 4 hours of work, I ended up with probably 5 containers full of worms as in the pic above. I also found this interesting looking slug (measures 3" long):

Any idea what this is??

I would assume that what I've found is a decent amount of life in 30lbs of crushed coral substrate from a somewhat established 20G tank. I really expected to find much less life as CC has been said to be a less than ideal choice of substrate for live sand. I hope that these critters will do better with 100lbs of playsand in my 30G and that the weird looking slug won't do any harm to the tank.

Any comments/ideas/input appreciated.
