I checked out Atlantis Aquatics' site from the link you posted and they do list the sen 900 as the recommended pump. I'm not sure if that's right or not. That's way more flow than the little rio that it comes with and doesn't have any venturi kit that I know of. I think it would be a bad choice and may even be a mistake on that website.

Here was the reply I got from Precision Marine:

Michael,

They must be mistaken. The SEN900 creates about 10x more flow than that skimmer can handle. Try putting an airstone over the intake hose to mute the sound of flowing air.

I emailed atlantis aqatic regarding the sen900 and was told that precision marine recommends them but said he had never run one himself. I then emailed precision marine regarding the same topic so if/when I get a response I will post it here.

would a needle wheel pump do the same as the venturi pump to produce fine bubbles, and would it work with the PM Hot-1, like the one on the Euro Reef Protein skimmers, I ordered the MJ1200 for my PM Hot-1 for my 46gal tank, just curious, cya.

I bet the smaller sedra with venturi adapter pumps would work ok, but I haven't tried it.. maybe I will.
