Latley my tank has had all sorts of these things popping up. They're small, so far no large than dime sized, and look like small green/yellow sponges. Each of them has a small translucent tube of the same color sticking up in the center. Any ideas what they are? I'm not really worried about them at this point, since they don't seem to harm anything, but there's a fair amount so I'd like to know what they are.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture to offer.

Sounds like a strange sponge looking thing.

JK....perfectly harmless, a tribute to your water quality.

I have the same thing on my LR. It is just a harmless sponge. They are very beneficial to the uptake of nutrients in the system, thus they will help in maintaining better water quality.

yah, I was afraid it'd be difficult to impossible to ID w/o a photo. I'll look around and see if I can find a similar picture somewhere.

I think the person is dead on about it just taking up nutrients. It seems there's more of them if I go a while without a water change or feed more heavily for a few days. They don't seem to be causing any harm, so I guess it's best not to worry.

Of course, that's what I said about Aipstasia too when I was just starting out.. heh.
