diatomic filters?

FWIW:

These are extremely efficient water polishers, they will take out something even as small as ick. So, yes, they will filter out all the goodies in your tank.

I used to use these on FW tanks, but I would never use them on my reefs.

Anyone know anything about diatomic filters? I have read that they make the water crystal clear, which is something I would obviously want. Are they worth the money? Hopefully they don't get rid of the copepod population.
