After reading several positive threads about Reefpure's products and customer service, I decided to order one of their RO/DI units online via their web page. Well, a week-and-a-half later and I have not heard a thing from Dave Visovatti or anyone else at Reefpure. They accepted my payment of $226 immediately, including $10 for "same-day shipping," yet I have received no indication that they intend to ship me anything. Of their two listed phone numbers, one is not connected, and the other leads to an answering machine (which is currently full and no longer accepting messages. They have not responded to my phone messages nor to email.

In a previous thread Dave made the statement that he, "give(s) the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET!" Well, Dave, if you are out there, I'm currently not very satisfied.

I just checked their web page again and noted the following disclaimer which was not there when I placed my order...

"ReefPure is undergoing a reorganization and a relocation to our new manufacturing site. Please bear with us during this phase - orders may take as long as 5-7 days until they are shipped. To compensate our loyal customers and our new customers for this inconvenience, we are offering 10% off on all items. Your discount will be calculated at check-out."

I hope this explains the wait, but it does not explain the lack of communication.

For what it's worth, my experience wasn't much different, although this was about 2 months ago.

I had read how Dave had sold his 4 stage RO/DI for $199 (at that time, now $10 more), including an extra carbon filter, an extra sediment filter, and a TDS meter to other reefers on this board. He told me over the phone that my order would go out the next day.

One week later, after not having received my order, I called him. He said, nope, hadn't been shipped yet, but would go out tomorrow. And he would also throw in some extra things to be a nice guy (presumably because of the one week delay).

This time, the order did ship, but when I opened it, No freebies. I got exactly what I had asked for. I can only assume that Dave had forgotten that he had already agreed to include the extra filters and the TDS meter. I was a bit disappointed, because he had gotten my hopes up for a freebie.

Not only that, in our initial discussion, Dave had said the kit inluded a float switch, which it didn't. So far I haven't bothered to call him to ask for it because my current setup doesnt need one.

On the plus side, I still think I got a good deal, and the unit seems to be working fine. Dave was pleasant to deal with, if a bit disorganized.

I placed an order on January 17th. Have not heard a thing since, even after several emails. Paypal account was already charged. I dont mind waiting, just let me know what is going on. I suggest to Reefs.org to seriously think about removing the Reefpure banner at the top of the page until this business becomes more stable. (Even if it still exists!!)

Yup....there are some things going on that delay shipping but don't get your panties in a wad just yet. An easier way to get quality RO/DI from Reef-Pure is to order it from somewhere like www.premiumaquatics.com and let them deal with the hassles. We are very confident that service is undergoing some major remodeling that very soon will result first rate/prompt shipping and service. HTH

I dont mind waiting at all, its just the fact of not knowing what is going on. When someone charges me for something which I do not have, and dont know where it is, etc. etc. I get a little nervous. It takes about 16 seconds to return an email, and that is all I am asking of Reefpure.

Please, to anyone looking at purchasing anything from "Dave's ReefPure", please look at the boards at reefcentral.com and do your homework.

Please solve any customer service issues you may have via PRIVATE email. I will state my policy clearly here. Any threads with posts from EITHER Joan Hickman or Dave Visovatti will be closed. I will not have our fine discussion board turned into a soap opera.
