what do you think of Premium Aquatics uncured liverock?

just looking into getting some lr for a 5.5gal nano i am setting up for my mom. they have no minimum order quantity and thier shipping is fair. they seem to be the cheapest right now. i am leaning toward uncured live rock because i have never gotten uncured and would like to get as much life out of it as possible. so what are everyones experiences w/ uncured or cured from premium aquatics. pics would be great too.

any other cheap sites? i thought about ffexpress too.

oh yeah, what about tips on curing. thinkgin of using a big rubbermaid tub and my etss super reef devil skimmer (and maybe a DIY airstone one i have laying around) using 2 NO 6500k lights to preserve everyhting i can.

If it were me and I was setting up a 5.5 gallon tank I would go for the most expensive 5lbs of rock I could find.

I have Fla aquacultured rock and am very happy with it.

I agree with SPC, get the best live rock quality live rock you can buy. I have set up 3 nanos (5, 10, & 15 gallons) in the past 2 years and IMO you can't go wrong with Paragon Aquatics live rock. Since I am buying such small quantities, I get the really nice cured show rock, which I think is about $4 lb (it's been about a 8 months since I last checked though).

The rock is just loaded with coralline algae, coral polyps, macroalgae etc! So much so that I had a hard time with each tank deciding what was going to be at the base of the tank and which rocks to put more on top.

I never had a nutrient spike and I have never had any type of nuisance algae, from day 1.

what? the most expensive 5lbs? i really don't need the most expensive nor do i want that. i am setting up for my mom and i don't want her to spend a ton. i have a great established tank that i will take a rock and some sand from to seed it more...but uncured should give me the most bang for the buck...shouldn't it.

If you are just setting up the tank you could just cure it in there. Make sure you run a skimmer and some powerheads. I did this with my 92 Gallon tank and it worked out fine.

I bought 20 pounds of uncured Fiji from Premium Aquatics. I must say that I am not very impressed. I have seen only one bristleworm and one little featherduster. Nothing else and those have disappeared.

I have also seen what looks like bryopsis and what I think is the start of Mermaids Cup algea.

His cured live rock is MUCH better.

This seems really strange since uncured live rock is supposed to have much more life than cured.
