salifert phosphate test kit

I just got my new test kit in the mail and was eager to try it out so i tested my water and zero.My phosphate has never been zero so I tested my tap water and zero.Im wondering if there is something wrong with the kit,or has anyone else had the trouble

Ive used the salifert kit...seems to work fine.

How do you know your phosphates were never zero?

Another way to find out is to use it in your friend's or LFS's tank. Preferably one that has not done much water change at all.

From recollection (so don't quote me):

1. 5ml of water

1. Add five drips of the acid

2. Add one spoon of the powder

3. Put on lid and shake until powder is dissolved

4. Read result
