zoanthids growing on leather coral stalk

I have a colony of greenish brown zoanthids growing below my long polyped leather coral and I recently noticed that the zoanthids are actually growing on the stalk of my leather coral. The leather seems to be opening its polyps still, but I was wondering if the zoanthids could eventually kill the coral? and if so would the entire colony of zoanthids just fall off the detiorating leather as it died?

I dont know if it will hurt the leather but it sounds pretty cool looking.
