Thanks for the heads-up on a scumb-bag retailer / manufacturer.

If you have an email or web address that would be useful - I'd love to ask them whether it's true they won't bother to deliver goods if they get cash up front.

If the goods haven't been supplied then I guess he owes you money. A debt collection agency is the way to get this back. I would have no hesitation in calling one if it were me.

Perhaps also try a small (quarter page) advertisment in the local paper where he gets most of his customers from - send him the proof so that he has a chance to comment on anything not factually correct.

Locally we have a Disputes Tribunal for matters like this - no doubt you have an equivalent. Complaints cost $7 US to register and both parties are required to turn up (lawyers are not allowed - unless they happen to be the defendant).

You can be sure it's not just you who is waiting. What you have to do is make sure he realises that you are the cutomer he wants to get rid of first. Make life miserable for this person!

mgamelin,

The post you linked to is somewhat odd as the person states "and was very unpolitely told that he was STILL not going to make it to set up my new tank". I'm unclear what is going on here but I'm sure Mitch would make attempt to make the situation right. There are 2 sides to every story and for sure would be another side to this one.

I know from experience that I changed my tank design several times with Mitch before construction began and there were some timing problems. I have seen similar threads complaining of delays from other manufacturers as well (Including Oceanic).

I know it must be frustrating for the guy to be waiting on his dream tank and Mitch does have a bad habit of promising delivery sooner than he can actually deliver but he did deliver an excellent product to me at an VERY reasonable price.

Based on the comment above, Mitch may not know what the guy exactly wants to do to resolve the problem but I'm confident it will be resolved. Mitch is a little unconventional but he isn't going to rip anyone off.

FWIW, Nathan

When I ordered my tank I was told in no uncertain terms that it would take a minimum of 4 - 6 weeks. It actually arrived in 21 days. I guess I lucked out. From what I can gather the shop only does custom orders on certain days as they provide production tanks to a national chain.
