Opinions, techniques, everything is welcome. Sepcifically looking for info on anemones, mushrooms, LPS, and gorgonians. What you use to feed, what you feed, species of specimen fed, etc.

Thanks very much.

Peace,

Chip

I also use a turkey baster. For some things like anemones that can take a fairly large piece of seafood I also use a chopstick that has been sharpened on one end like a pencil so that I can stick a chunk of seafood on it & put it right into the tentacles.

Anemone's I just drag the food through their tentacles, until they latch on... then drop it roughly over the center of it's body, to make it easier on the thing.

Smaller things and critters I feed either with a turkey baster, or a length of airline, connected to a foot long piece of Rigid Tubing. I find the tubing easier to aim at the smaller polyped critters, and it also allows a greater control of force. I place the airline tubing in my mouth, and draw the liquid (powdered foods are fed in suspension of tank water) up the rigid tubing by gently sucking on the end. Careful, doesn't take much to pull it through the length of airline - you could get a mouthful yourself.
Position the end of the tubing upstream from the coral or invert I'm feeding - blowing directly onto the coral doesn't seem as productive to me, they just close up. Then by very gently blowing out the airline in my mouth, I can control the stream of food into the water... this then blows by current into the coral, and voila. It takes a bit of practice, and patience to get the amount of pressure right when feeding. Just like when drawing it up, it doesn't take much to blow your tube all out at once. This tends to disperse too much at one shot, and a lot gets wasted... Skimmer starts going nuts, nutrient spikes may follow, etc. etc. ad nasueum...

Anemones, I just thaw a cube of frozen food, drag it over the tentacles to latch on. I have tankfull of gorgonians, sea fans, and sponges. I feed Taihetian blend to the entire tank 3 times a week. Supplement with decapsulated brine shrimp eggs or golden pearl once a week. Some claimed that using taihetian blend contribute to algae bloom, I have not experienced it yet.

I target feed with a turkey baster. I add DTs 3x weekly and then feed 2x a day with a variety of frozen/flake food. Nori/sea veggies are available for grazing fish.

My giant tube anemoe will just take bits of food from my hand. I also lay food on my fungia and hammer corals. I used a baster for awhile but it kind of blasted them and my tube anemoe would shoot back inside everytime.

I use the same approach that Mac does except I have the air line connected to a syringe. A 1" pc of air line is connected to the syringe followed by a 20" pc of rigid connected to the air line.
