Hello Everyone,

I was wondering...Is anyone using the new Sony DSC F707 Digital camera to photograph their tank?

It's the new 5 megapixel digital camera! It's only limitations seem to be memory stick and manueverability toughness.

thank you,

Rob

No. I am too busy cleaning the drool off the keyboard... I love my prehistoric Sony digicam...

Please post some shots...

Hi Kai-Wei,

So those pictures on your link were taken with the new Sony DSC F707 correct?

Thanks for posting them.

I just bought one of those the other day.

It was a saga getting one locally. Only two left in the country (until the end of this month). Those were at the Sony Style shop (a demo outlet that sells product at full RRP) and the manager of that shop would not sell either to me (I'd already paid at another retailer). I encouraged the General Manager of Sony NZ to think about how bad that looked to a customer buying through the usual retail chain.

Needless to say I got my camera. Of course the first one was faulty. Grrrr I'm sure the manager of the Sony Style shop knew this - but I'll never know for sure. I think this because there's the remains of a white sticky label on the box with the remnants of some hand writing visible. I suspect it said "faulty" on the label - but it's impossible to tell for sure.

I complained bitterly about this (via the General Manager) and the second (and final) camera arrived the following day. No torn off white label on this box and the camera predictably worked.

Sadly the units in NZ have not had the BFS factory fixed (I've read many US units being sold today have) so mine will be going for maintenance soon - just as soon as I can part with it for a week or so

So customer service is questionable locally, but the camera is luckily made elsewhere...

It's amazing how good the picture quality is. I'm amazed at how good the picture looks when printed out on A3 - "absolutely perfect" sums it up.

I can't imagine anyone would regret buying one.

Hi Scott,

thanks for the info and your opinion. Sounds like a great camera after all.

I'm still debating mine... I may just go with it.

Thanks for your review.

hi Rob,

Yup, the picture were taken with DSC-F707.

One thing to be awared of is that early production units had problem with White Balance, as refered to as Blue Flash Syndrome. My camera had the problem but was fixed by Sony and returned to me in 3 days - Sony paid for shipping cost and everything.

Check on www.dpreview.com and goto Sony Talk Forum for discussion.

It's a very nice camera. The macro is really great for our reefs. Night-Framing is also really nice. You can take photos in total darkness.

Just my 2 cents!
