adding kalk to ATO water

When adding Kalk to your topoff water do you add a few scoops directly to your resevoir, or do you mix a few scoops in a container and then pour only the top layer into the topoff?

Advantages/disadvantages to either method?

The article doesnt clearly state how to add kalk to a resevoir of topoff water. What is mentions is "Slow dosing clear, settled limewater to replace evaporated water"

Is this comprised of the top layer when mixing kalk and water in a sepaate container, or is it comprosed of what's in the resevoir after directly dumping some kalk in? The pump in my topoff resevir is slightly raised from thebottom, so if i as ti mix directly in the bucket it would be just above the thick bottom slurry. Looking for reccomendations on which method to employ.

Once the kalk dissolves and the impurities settle, you can dose all the liquid except the bottom slurry.

Mix it in your container & let it sit for about an hour.
Dose.
You do not want to use at least 1/2" of the bottom, where the kalk settled.

I have my litermeter pump fresh water into an RO housing with kalk in it. The bottom of the filter has a half cup or so of kalk in it. as the water pumps in it mixes with the kalk. It's not quite as efficent as a kalk reactor that keeps the kalk suspended all the time, but it works and it's cheap. a housing, couple of fittings and it's good.

It pumps fresh water to the bottom and the effluent coming out of the top is clear. Plus being sealed in a container I dont' ahve to worry about CO2

I like your idea for pumping in kalkwater. When the clear water runs out the top, does it fall into a sump? Or do you have it plumbed below a waterline?
I'm wondering if ANY co2 gets into the outlet side of your setup...
