I have a RO?DI unit and what to set up some auto top-off system. What is the best method out there??? I have several ideas, but am not sure which way to go.

1 - Hook the RO/DI up under the sink and run the tubing directly into the sump utilizing a float valve.

2 - Run the RO/DI into some sort of reservoir and have the reservoir feed into the sump.

Also, should I use a float switch, pressure switch or solenoid? I dont want to come home and find my house flooded. I am tired of dumping gallon jugs of water into the tank everyday. I need to stabilize my salinity and make my life easier . Please advise.

I am wary oif mechanical failures (i.e. float switch, solenoid, etc), so I decided to go with a Nurce unit. Works beatifully!

I have my RO/DI go into a 30 gallon plastic tank. Only fill it about every 2-3 weeks. Just let it run for half a day. I have a Reef filler pump hooked to a timer that pumps 3 hours a day, from 5-8am. This pumps the water from the tank, thru a Kalkwasser reactor and then up stairs into my tank. I have it set to pump exactly a gallon a day which is what I evaporate a day. Works perfectly, never mess with it at all, except to add a 1/2 pound of kalkwasser every other month or so. This also keeps 20-30 gallons of water ready for a water change when needed. Could be done with out a kalk reactor.

I use a 40 gallon container that has a float valve to shut down the water when full. I then have a Life Reef float in my sump that regulates the top off, so far so good.
jim, what type of Kalk reactor are you using?

I have a RO/DI fill a 44g container 30 ft from my system, using the AT-1 Tsunami(from Champion) top-off. No problems. The pressure sensor is in the sump and keeps the level constant.
